KIGO ceiling panels
KIGO Standard
For industry, retail and large buildings.
Fully water-flooded stainless steel heat exchanger: 126 W/m² cooling capacity and very low pressure losses. Cost-effective even for large areas and high rooms.
KIGO Copper IKC
For offices and rooms with high acoustic requirements.
Copper heat exchanger in perforated metal trays with acoustic fleece: 117 W/m² cooling capacity and very good sound absorption.
KIGO ceiling panels: heating and cooling with one system
KIGO ceiling panels hang freely below the concrete slab and transfer heat and cold mainly by radiation – silently, without draughts or swirling dust. Both versions are developed and manufactured in Switzerland and can be supplied by heat pumps, groundwater or waste heat.
Which panel is right? KIGO Standard is the most powerful and most economical solution for industrial halls, retail and large buildings. KIGO Copper IKC is the first choice for offices, training rooms or cafeterias, where acoustics matter as much as thermal comfort.

KIGO Standard ceiling panels
The core of the KIGO Standard ceiling panels is a flat heat exchanger made of two thin stainless steel sheets embossed into a cushion shape. 95% of the surface is in direct contact with the water. The temperature is therefore uniform across the entire surface, the panel reacts very quickly and the pressure losses are 36 times lower than those of conventional cooling ceilings.
Depending on the installation situation, KIGO ceiling panels deliver 20 to 60% more output than common products on the market. The heat exchanger is crimped into a galvanised or stainless steel frame and can be powder-coated in any RAL or NCS colour.
Cooling capacity
126 W/m² cooling capacity at a mean temperature difference of 8.5 °C (design temperatures 16/19 °C, air 26 °C, comfort temperature 23 to 24 °C, value for a building with medium thermal mass).
This chart shows the output of KIGO climate panels mounted on the ceiling (freely suspended, without mechanical convection).
Heating capacity
In heating mode with very low flow temperatures, their output is also higher than that of most conventional radiant panels. It depends on the type of installation and the building. Typical values are between 133 and 151 W/m² at a water temperature of 35/30 °C and an air temperature of 20 °C (perceived temperature 22 to 23 °C).
Dimensions
The panels are available up to a width of 865 mm and a length of 2965 mm. On request, dimensions can be adjusted in 60 mm steps, which allows great flexibility in room layout. The KIGO heat exchanger weighs 13.5 kg/m² when empty and holds 2.6 l/m² of water. The standard 2.05 m² heat exchanger (L 2365 × W 865 mm) thus weighs 27 kg empty and 32.2 kg in operation.
Installation
Several installation options are possible: on a substructure, with quick hangers or with threaded rods. Installation is very simple and is described clearly and completely in our installation instructions.
Ventilation integration
Ventilation can be combined discreetly with KIGO climate panels. Ducts are easily concealed between the panels and the slab, and linear diffusers of the same width and colour as the panels fit between two elements. Ventilation boxes are simply fixed to the frame, for fast installation and perfect alignment of the whole system.
KIGO ceiling panels are also highly responsive: no surface obstructs the heat exchange between panel and room, and the system is fully operational in less than six minutes.
Lighting integration
The space between KIGO climate panels is the ideal place for luminaires. Depending on the mounting system, the same fixing elements can be used, which reduces installation time and ensures perfect alignment. With direct/indirect luminaires, KIGO panels provide an ideal surface for diffusing light.
Acoustic performance
The acoustic properties of the metal surface of the KIGO climate panel are comparable to those of a wood or cork surface. Insulation on the back improves them significantly.
Industrial halls: even warmth instead of hot air
In high halls, warm air rises. Air heaters create a temperature gradient of 1.5 to 2 K per metre of height, KIGO ceiling panels only about 0.2 K/m. The heat arrives where people work.
- lower heating costs and significantly lower heating capacity required
- low-temperature operation (below 40 °C), ideal with a heat pump or waste heat
- no air movement, no swirling dust
- virtually maintenance-free
Compared with air heaters, energy savings of more than 50% are possible – including when renovating existing halls.
KIGO Standard applications
KIGO Copper IKC ceiling panels
KIGO Copper IKC ceiling panels hang freely and consist of large perforated metal trays with acoustic fleece. The patented KIGO Copper heat exchanger is bonded to them over the entire surface: a partially perforated copper foil onto which a copper tube (Ø 12 mm) is laser-welded. This ensures optimal contact between tube and foil.
117 W/m² cooling capacity (16/19 °C, room 26 °C): about 10% less than KIGO Standard, but about 15% more than comparable competitor products. Because the perforation of the copper foil leaves a large part of the tray perforation open, sound absorption is almost fully preserved. Swiss Made, manufactured in Sierre.
Construction and dimensions
- Standard widths 800, 900, 1000 and 1100 mm (other widths on request), length up to 2750 mm
- Suspension with two cross members and four threaded rods, minimum height 100 mm
- Trays can be unhooked and folded down without tools
- Perforation of your choice, acoustic fleece as standard, optional additional sound absorber (20 mm, recycled PET)
- All RAL and NCS colours possible
Integrating ventilation
KIGO Copper IKC ceiling panels can be combined with a separate ventilation duct – supply air only, or supply and extract air. The ducts run between the panels.
If ventilation is to be fully integrated into the panel, the KIGO Copper IKCH hybrid ceiling panel is the right choice: heating, cooling, ventilation and sound absorption in just 85 mm of height.
Acoustics
Unlike closed ceilings, it makes little sense to state absorption coefficients for ceiling panels. Thanks to the additional absorbing surface on the back of the metal tray, the panel achieves excellent results on paper (e.g. αw = 1.6), which are of little use for calculations. Edge diffraction and the ratio of perimeter to area also have an influence that is hard to quantify. These effects mean that ceiling panels absorb sound better than closed ceilings.
It is therefore better to use the equivalent absorption area of the panels rather than the absorption coefficient – i.e. how many m² of acoustic ceiling the panel replaces to achieve the same result.
