Open ceilings – KIGO Flex
Heating and cooling with open ceilings
With KIGO Flex, KIGO stainless steel heat exchangers are laid without a frame on the substructure of an open suspended ceiling or fixed directly to the slab. They use the space available above the ceiling (plenum) and thermally activate the suspended ceiling and partly the slab.
Open ceilings – for example with wooden or metal slats, or expanded metal – combine aesthetics, acoustics and accessibility. Thanks to the open area (at least 30%), the loss of output compared with KIGO Standard is very small. In a dark colour, the heat exchangers are virtually invisible above the ceiling.
Felt or perforated metal slats provide sound absorption directly. If necessary, the slab can also be partially insulated.
Cooling and heating capacity
The output depends on the open area of the ceiling:
- Cooling capacity: 73–117 W/m² (16/19 °C, room 26 °C)
- Heating capacity: 88–151 W/m² (35/30 °C, room 20 °C)
You will find more information in the technical documentation.
Stretch ceiling, plasterboard or closed metal trays?
For other ceiling types, KIGO offers dedicated solutions: Swisstop stretch ceilings, plasterboard ceilings (KIGO Zen) and closed metal ceilings (KIGO Copper KC-FPF).
