Closed metal ceilings: performance and acoustics without compromise

With KIGO Copper KC-FPF, the metal trays of a closed suspended ceiling are thermally activated. The ceiling heats and cools the room evenly by radiation – invisibly, silently and without draughts.

What sets us apart from other suppliers is the high specific output and the acoustics: the patented KIGO Copper heat exchanger leaves a large part of the perforation open. The activated tray therefore absorbs sound almost as well as a non-activated one.

Typical applications: office and administrative buildings, banks and hospitals.

Construction and technology

  • Activated metal trays 400 or 600 mm wide (500 mm on request)
  • Only as many trays as needed for the heating and cooling demand are activated. The other trays can accommodate luminaires, ventilation grilles or detectors.
  • The activated trays are connected to each other and to the heating/cooling manifolds with multilayer pipes.
  • Fixing on the substructure: each tray can be unhooked individually on its short side, usually without tools.

Rectangular metal trays KC-FPF

This metal tray system is designed to be fixed on a substructure according to the principle below. The fixing allows each tray to be unhooked individually on its short side, usually without tools.

Acoustic properties

Thanks to the innovative KIGO Copper activation, which preserves a large part of the tray perforation, the acoustic properties of the activated tray are improved in the low frequencies.

They remain very good in the higher frequencies, especially with a sound absorber.

The chart below shows the measurements for a 0.7 mm thick metal tray with Ø 1.0 mm perforation and 20% open area.

Closed ceilings

For closed ceilings, the acoustic values provided by the metal tray manufacturers are sufficient to determine the absorption coefficient, as the surface of the suspended ceiling is homogeneous.
